Spray Painting By David Walker
|
Street artist David Walker paints freehand using only spray paint. Walker has developed a signature style of multi-layering using mark making and scrawled lines. He creates portraits by weaving clashing colours, decaying letterforms and translucent drips resulting in a photo realistic image with graffiti sensibilities. He aims to challenge the preconceptions of fine art and urban art and their confinements.
David Walker had his first London Solo Exhibition at the Rook & Raven gallery, titled “Brides of Fire”. The show opened in November 2011 to huge acclaim and is running through to January 2012. In April 2010 Walker exhibited very large painting installations with Mutate Britain at the Glastonbury Unfairground. David Walker produces many street performances creating art in the public domain. He is a long term member of the Scrawl Collective whose original members include Nick Walker, Will Barras and Mr Jago. He has displayed in many group exhibitions since his beginnings in 2004 which has taken place across the UK, Europe and Internationally. Londoner David’s first job was creating t-shirts designs for The Prodigy. He then went on to produce album and party artwork which led to running his own street wear label ‘Subsurface’.
