John Holcroft is illustrator and art director based in Sheffield, UK. He grew up in Lancashire and when he was 9 when his family moved to Yorkshire where he spent most of his childhood drawing and painting. During his college years he became a fan of artists like David Cutter, Ian Pollock and Edward Hopper.
Spending the next 4 years working in temporary design jobs, he practiced illustration work in his spare time. In 1996 he took the plunge and started freelance in illustration. For the first 5 years he painted all his works on canvass paper. It was in 2001 when he started to familiarise with technology and start executing his artwork using a Wacom tablet and Corel Painter.
His past clients include: BBC, TUC, Reader's Digest, Financial Times, Walker books, The Guardian, The Economist, Haymarket, conde nast, TES, Experian, Informa and many more.
