Ms Deweese’s racy past has divided parents, with many slamming her as a bad role model for her students.
"Are her male 16 and 17 year-old students looking at her without picturing her nude? For the female students, is this someone they can respect as an educator, someone they can look up to? I think it would be more distracting for the boys. They wouldn’t see the teacher as a role model, like she’s supposed to be," parent Esmeralda Landa-Soch said. One student said that students were "obsessing" over the racy photos, which were being shown around the school.
However, some students and parents came to Ms Deweese’s defence. "She’s a really good teacher," student Zapora Long said. "She’s really nice and really good at teaching Spanish and she just never mentioned anything about it." Long’s mother Chanatrra Long, who was reading her Bible while waiting for her daughter outside the school, said "I felt like as long as she can do her job, I said ‘let it ride'. She’s not a good role model, but I’ve done some things in my past too."
