At the age of 23, Kris entered the ILFORD photography competition (president Jean-Loup Sieff) and of 8000 entries, he won the 1st Prize. This was a huge encouragement him to take his pastime more seriously and dedicate more of his time to it. He then discovered Photoshop bringing back into play his computer knowledge. And the Kris Gautier we know and love was created!
Kris has always been a solo artist and has not, like many photographers, learnt his trade assisting others. However he does take inspiration from other photographers and is a big fan of Pierre et Gilles, Jean-Paul Goude and Jean-Baptiste Mondino.
