Kris started out his studies in computer science with a view to becoming a computer engineer. He discovered photography while on holiday in the US, indulged in this hobby more and more and eventually gave up studying altogether to concentrate on his photos.
At the age of 23, Kris entered the ILFORD photography competition (president Jean-Loup Sieff) and of 8000 entries, he won the 1st Prize. This was a huge encouragement him to take his pastime more seriously and dedicate more of his time to it. He then discovered Photoshop bringing back into play his computer knowledge. And the Kris Gautier we know and love was created!
