Belle, Featherless Humboldt Penguin, Singapore Bird Park

The featherless Humboldt penguin Belle is put on a wet suit to help it rehabilitate the growth of feathers in Singapore Bird Park. Singapore Bird Park's avian keepers put a wet suit onto the featherless Humboldt penguin Belle to help it rehabilitate the growth of feathers. Belle started suffering from feathers moulting since last year, resulting in her being ostracized by her fellow penguins, and losing her ability to swim as well as the ability to keep warm. Therefore, the avian keepers researched and found a way to help the penguin. It was done by tailoring a wet suit for Belle help it grow its feathers.
The Humboldt Penguin (Spheniscus humboldti) (also termed Peruvian Penguin, or Patranca) is a South American penguin, that breeds in coastal Peru and Chile. Its nearest relatives are the African Penguin, the Magellanic Penguin and the Galápagos Penguin. The penguin is named after the cold water current it swims in, which is itself named after Alexander von Humboldt, an explorer.
