Tropicana Sun Art Installation In Trafalgar Square, London, England, United Kingdom

The temporary display will be removed this evening, with workers hauling away the 2,500kg fake sun, which is 30,000 times the size of a football at 200 square-metres. Where the real sun casts 100,000 lumens of light on the earth at dawn, Greyworld's installation produces four million lumens of light into its immediate vicinity. The advantage of this luminous light is that it can be looked at directly, as it is encased in beautiful yellow fabric.
Greyworld try to create art that is not viewed in conventional manner, but simply stumbled across by passers-by. But the sun above us usually is far hotter than this artwork's 100C peak, at 5,700C at its surface and a whopping 15,000,000C at its core.
'Sunlight is something many of us crave mid-winter,' added Tropicana spokesman Pete Charles. 'We hope that this stunning art installation will both amaze and enthuse those who see it, whilst brightening their mornings on a miserable January day. We hope people will be able to come down, relax in our deckchairs and enjoy a glass of Tropicana whilst watching the spectacular sunrise. The perfect start to a January day.’
