Rock Boarding
|
Dedicated to boarding or skiing downhill on a rubble field. Rock-boarding is literally the hardest sport you have ever seen! Regular winter equipment, skis, telemark skis, but mainly snowboards are being used to board/ski a slope of rubbles. The rocks are the size from a plum to a huge fist. Most favorable, the rubble slope should have an inclination of 100% or the steeper the better! It is suicidal to downhill the rubble slope in a straight line! Too much speed will be gained and nowhere to go!
Some snowboard freaks started rock-boarding in 1992! Already in 1995 they organized the first race! Until now, this rock-boarding contest is held every year in Kandersteg in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. As of today it is the one and only of this kind worldwide. Additionally to the
slalom competition, a jumping contest was implemented in the year 2000 event. The competitors jumped already summersaults and full spins.
