Religious practices
Women's hair may be hidden using headscarves, a common part of the hijab in Islam and a symbol of modesty required for certain religious rituals in Orthodox Christianity. Orthodox Judaism endorses the use of scarves and other head coverings for women for modesty reasons as in Islam. Sikhs generally keep their hair uncut and men keep it tied in a bun on the head, which is then covered appropriately using a turban. Muslims have their head shaved while performing Haj.
