Tropicana Sun Art Installation In Trafalgar Square, London, England, United Kingdom
|
It will not set until 7.33pm today, extending daylight for would-be picnickers by a welcome three hours. The luminous orb was designed by leading art collective Greyworld for Tropicana fruit juice's 'Brighter Morning' campaign, and took six months to construct. Tourists and commuters gathered beneath its rays on deckchairs this morning as they soaked up some rare winter sunshine. Andrew Shoben, founder of Greyworld said: 'There are very few moments more spectacular and uplifting than watching an early morning sunrise. We have tried to capture the evocative nature of this natural phenomenon with the Tropicana Sun, our latest piece of public art, which has been unveiled to help boost the mood of those who experience it.'
He encouraged shivering Londoners to head into the city's centre to see the unique project and enjoy a glimpse of some blinding light.
