Dining With Wolves By Werner Freund

Werner Freund (born on March 2, 1933 in Garbenteich, a district of Pohlheim, Hesse) is a wolf researcher. He worked as a gardener, robbery zookeeper and expedition leader in 1955. In 1957, he moved to the Federal Armed Forces. He get the rank of Sergeant in the barracks at the Ell at Parachute Battalion 262 in Merzig, where he served as an instructor.
Freund is married and lives in Merzig since 1972. In 1977, he established a special Wolf Park. This park is open to visitors for free. Freund is best known for the fact that he is partially living together with wolfs. He wrote several books about their behavior, including his most famous work, Wolf among wolves. For his initiative around the wolves, and for the establishment of the Wolf Park, he was awarded with the Saarland Merit award in 1995.
