Ex-paratrooper Werner Freund is so close to his pack of 29 wolves, that they eat meat from his mouth. The photos were made at his sanctuary in Merzig, Germany.
Werner Freund (born on March 2, 1933 in Garbenteich, a district of Pohlheim, Hesse) is a wolf researcher. He worked as a gardener, robbery zookeeper and expedition leader in 1955. In 1957, he moved to the Federal Armed Forces. He get the rank of Sergeant in the barracks at the Ell at Parachute Battalion 262 in Merzig, where he served as an instructor.
