Skateboarding Mice By Shane Willmott

Shane Willmott is a professional mouse trainer. He’s been training mice to surf for about 10 years (seriously), and he said he decided to teach them to skateboard because it was too cold in winter to take them to the beach. Now, the Australian has taken on a new challenge - training his radical rodents to skateboard. Willmott, who lives in the Gold Coast area of eastern Australia, near Brisbane, has even built his furry friends a mini skate park.
Fearless mice Harvey and Pedro take on ramps, half-pipes and even a deadly ring of fire. ‘They love it,’ he said. ‘Mice are built to surf and skate because their centre of gravity is so low. When they do fall off, they want to get straight back on board.' In past, Willmott unveiled his mice in the water with hand-crafted mini surfboards. He taught his first mouse to surf 28 years ago when he was a teenager. 'Contrary to popular belief, mice are actually unbelievable swimmers - so if they come off they are fine to paddle around until I collect them.'
