Underwater Photography By Rava Ray

After graduating from the University of Hawaiʻi with a degree in economics, she found her passion in wearable arts. The natural beauty surrounding her during her childhood in Moʻorea, French Polynesia is her biggest inspiration along with working with unconventional materials. She worked for Vera Wang, where she partook in creating some of the world's most beautiful wedding gowns. Her designs have since been featured in British Vogue. She is now furthering her education at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City.
In 2011, she began a series of necklaces inspired by her home in Tahiti. The women there often compliment their outfits with similar jewelry, carefully choosing a piece to wear with their traditional dresses. Now she sew the shells, mother of pearl, seeds onto a woven coconut base and fashioned a clasp out of a shell and you can see these necklaces at Honolulu fashion week.
